Light and Darkness - 46/365 (mildly NSFW)
Monday, April 26, 2010 at 9:29AM by static416For the most part my photography consists of impromptu shots of people or inanimate objects, so this is a bit of a departure from the usual for me.
Things I learned?
Being methodical helps. I'm used to taking shots quickly and without really thinking because the moments I'm shooting are usually transient. But doing that when someone is modelling for you is not necessary because you've got all the time in the world. I would have been better off taking more time to frame and focus each shot. I've got dozens of slightly misfocused photos that I would have been able to retake had I taken the time to notice.
Keep in mind the content. I have quite a few which are well focused and nicer than the above, but are too racy and/or too personally identifying to be posted online. Had I thought about that a little more at the time I could have gotten a larger number of useful shots.
Better lighting is better. The shots I took with the laptop lighting her turned out well, but some others that were shot by light of Ikea lamps were more frequently off. Next time around I won't have that problem as I ordered a 580 EX II over the weekend, which should arrive this week and allow for some nicer shots.
Also, keeping the drinking to a minimum helps with all of the above.
Back to shots of graffiti and fruit tomorrow.
